The Demonflame Is All-Consuming

More than two decades ago, Luther Black used the full power of his DEMON organization to initiate the Demonflame incident. Through vile magics and human sacrifice he created a flaming tower that rose into the sky, and at its peak he attempted a horrific ritual in order to pry open the doors between worlds and drain the power of the Qliphothic entity known as Sharna-Gorak the Destroyer. He was stopped by the combined forces of brave superheroes and, to everyone's surpise, VIPER. Luther Black's plan was foiled, and the tower disappeared.
Now, Luther Black has taken a desperate gamble to re-create the Demonflame incident. If he succeeds, he may be able to steal the essence of the Kings of Edom and become the apotheosis of Qliphothic power.

Luther Black: Wresting knowledge from the occult tome Liber Terribilis - The Book of Harrowing - Luther Black created the magical sect DEMON to seize the power of the Qliphothic Realm and become a god. His first attempt nearly destroyed him decades ago, but he has slowly rebuilt and is ready to try again.

The Left Hand: The Left Hand is an angel of darkness and Luther Black's chief enforcer. Spawned from Luther Black's occult knowledge and the stolen power of Sharna-Gorak the Destroyer, the Shining Darkness brought The Left Hand's corrupted flesh and hellfire blood into being.

The Qliphothic Realm: The Qliphothic Realm, the Shining Darkness, is an ancient plane filled with decaying energies that corrupt and destroy all. Few who venture here survive the horrors of this dimension, and those who do are often changed by the experience.

The Qliphothic Towers: These eldritch towers were built by Luther Black and DEMON to help focus the powers of the Kings of Edom into lesser incarnations of themselves so they could be used as fuel for the Demonflame ritual.

The Kings of Edom: Imprisoned eons ago in the Qliphothic Realm to prevent them from consuming all life in the known dimensions, these cosmic monsters constantly try to break the barriers between worlds. These are the Kings of Edom, promising great power to any who help them escape the Shining Darkness.
